About

Madelyn Webb is a painter in Los Angeles. Her work moves between uncompromising realism and surrealism, held together by strong contrasts of light and colour: dreamlike scenes full of faces, figures and objects, elegant figurative paintings and lush gardens.
Becoming a painter
Madelyn started painting at a young age and always wanted to be an artist. In art class at school she painted from her imagination, and when her teacher did not appreciate it, she went on painting at home, without showing anyone, until she had become a professional painter.

For years art stayed a passion next to other things. She studied at the Los Angeles Film School, where she focused on art and perspective, and there she realised that painting was her calling. Encouraged by friends, she gave it her full attention, guided by well-known artists and painters.
The work
The purpose of her art is to connect: to let anyone who looks at her paintings see the world the way she sees it. She paints mostly in oil on canvas, from intimate portraits to large surreal compositions.
Her paintings are part of various collections, and works have been sold to private collectors and dealers. She also paints on commission.
